Success has highly tangible personal elements. These are characteristics and competencies that are indistinguishable for some, yet the most prominent leaders in the world easily know it when they see it.

Four in particular are the most coveted because of the level of impact they create in an organizational and communal level.

Integrity

Nothing beats high moral and ethical standards. There are those that can successfully sneak their evil, narcissistic ways. But in the end, it’s still the one with the moral compass that leads people towards success.

Being a person of integrity ultimately creates and fosters a trusting environment where people will feel safe and secure. A leader with high ethical and moral standards promotes and executes fairness and consistency, and these are the elements that truly make for a strong and sustainable work culture.

With a safe environment, employees can be confident about being innovative, committed, and be a person of integrity themselves without sacrificing their opportunity to be successful or go higher up the corporate ladder.

Encouraging

It’s always amazingly electrifying to be around people that knows how to empower others. Whether a good or bad day, you always want to be inspired. You always want to feel alive in moments when time gets too tough.

As the leader, you need to be able to provide clear direction to the people you lead while allowing employees to have control over their own time.

It has been shown that empowered teams have higher productivity. They are also the ones that are able to service customers better because they are more satisfied with their work and status.

Nurturing

Almost all leaders can be skillful, but not all are nurturing. Leaders that are able to support their team’s growth and cultivate their professional and personal development are the ones that really go a long way.

A personnel will know and feel how sincere a leader is in terms of really caring about what’s best for them, at least professionally. It’s an all-important quality to convey to your subordinates that you have their best interest at heart.

Once leaders are able to efficiently express their desire for their employees to grow, there is a feeling of happy reciprocation on the part of employees. They too would want their organization to grow because they feel that their head honchos do actually care about them.

Advocate for your team’s personal and professional development by supporting their training and promotion, and you’ll see them more inspired than ever.

Flexible

Your openness and willingness to listen and commune as a leader speaks volumes about how you want your organization to grow.

As a leader, you also have to have the vision to appreciate new ideas. Innovation sometimes stems from the craziest of viewpoints, and as a leader, you must be able to creatively draw the line.

Don’t ice them out. Learn to communicate. Be open and flexible about what they can say to you and what they can’t. Show them that you are someone whom they can approach. Someone who can level with them.

In order to vastly empower and encourage learning among employees, leaders must first be open to developing themselves.
